Lamborghini to roll out Gallardo’s replacement by 2013


Lamborghini Gallardo has been an eye-catcher since its launch in 2003. This super-fast sports car has a built count of 12,000 units and is surprisingly the highest produced model of Lamborghini. This Italian auto giant is awed by the overwhelming response this marvelous super-car has garnered around the world and has planned to gift the auto world a replacement of it. The Lamborghini Cabrera will officially replace the Lamborghini Gallardo as an entry-level Lamborghini. This new Lamborghini will sport an all-wheel drive coupled with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The car will adopt the same V10 powerplant of Gallardo and will be able to pump as much power as that of 600 horses.

The company says that in order to make most of the automated components an automatic transmission must be offered. The seamless performance of the whole car bearing the automatic transmission has been offered as the explanation for the absence of the manual transmission variant of the Lamborghini Cabrera. CEO of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann mentioned in an interview that design is a revolution and will be given utmost importance in the replacement of Gallardo. Mr. Winkelmann also mentioned that the carbon fiber integrated construction of Aventador will not be followed in Cabrera; the design traits would also be uncommon.

Some other high-end features too have been excluded from the Cabrera which will result in the competitive pricing of the Lamborghini Cabrera. The Lamborghini Cabrera is expected to be lighter than Lamborghini Gallardo. As per the expert reports, the Cabrera will share the platform which is the Volkswagen’s modular sportscar architecture with Audi R8 and Porsche sports models. The current Lamborghini Gallardo shares its chassis architecture with Audi R8. The other common parts include the V10 engine of R8 Spyder which has been adopted from Gallardo. Cheapest Lamborghini Car, the 'Urus' SUV's Price Revealed



Lamborghini, the Italian auto giant known for manufacturing luxury and sports car has reported to keep its SUV's price tag at pound 1,35,000, which means, approx Rs 1.1. crore in Indian rupees. While for India, the price can go close to Rs 2 crore. The Urus has been in the headlines even before it was unveiled at this year's Beijing Motor Show.

First on the finalizing the name that whether it would be named Diemos, Urus or some different, in fact Lamborghini had officially trademarked Diemos name in the past. Then came a rumour that it would look like BMW X6, which was trashed by Lamborghini by unveiling the SUV at this year's Beijing Motor show, however the SUV is based on its parent company Volkwagen's PL71 platform.

Although the launch date has not still been finalized, we expect it to launch by 2016. Housing a 4.0-litre V8 engine, the coming Lamborghini Urus SUV will churn the maximum of 600bhp and the torque of 650Nm, that depicts the real power it holds. It will be closely competing with the BMW X6 and Porsche Cayenne. As per the word on street, the coming Urus will be by far the cheapest Lamborghini car.

Lamborghini Aventador in Carbon Fibre

Lamborghini Aventador, 1000th Unit Sold


Lamborghini, the Italian heartthrob with its latest masterpiece, Aventador LP700-4, hit an important milestone yesterday on the 19th of July, 2012. Within the first 15 months since its launch, the company produced the 1000th unit of the sports car which is faster than any other V12-powered model in the company's history. It goes from 0-60mph (which when converted is from 0-96kmph) in somewhere close to 2.6 seconds and has a top speed capability of 349kmph.

The company claims that they are booked for the next 18 months as well. The 1000th Argo Organe hue color Lamborghini Aventador was received by the Hans Scheindecker, who was handed the key personally by the CEO and President of Lamborghini Automobilli, Stephan Winkelmann.

The Aventador LP700-4 is priced at $376,000 and in India it is available at around Rs. 3.6crore (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). It delivers around 700bhp and a torque of 689Nm at 5500rpm with its 6.5-litre V12 engine. The Aventador uses a lot of carbon fibre to keep the weight down but still the weight is 1814kgs, close to 4000 pounds.
The next in line from the house of Lamborghini is the Aventador Roadster model within the next year.

BMW X6 Launched at Rs. 78.90 Lakh



Yesterday we brought to you the pre-launch coverage for the much awaited BMW X6 SUV. And now the latest offering from BMW is out and has been tagged with a price of Rs. 78.90 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) for the XDrive40d diesel while the XDrive50i petrol has been tagged at Rs. 93.4 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), which is more or less the anticipated price of the X6. As we informed our readers in our pre-launch coverage, the X6 was first unveiled at the New York Motor Show in April, 2012. Additionally, as we predicted, the SUV is now considerably more lavish and luxurious.

In terms of exteriors, the X6 now gets a revised front grille design, revamped fog-lights and the addition of new LED adaptive headlights for better road visibility. We also see the addition of 19-inch alloy wheels as a standard option on all the variants. The interiors too boast several key changes; one of these is the addition of carbon fibre inserts to the dashboard and door trims. Apart from the classy carbon fibre inserts, we also see the X6 interiors garbed in all-new leather upholstery and featuring the updated iDrive system.

As far as mechanical changes are concerned, there do not seem to be any, as full details are still pending release. We expect the engines to remain the same as the old X6, which are the 4.4-litre V8 petrol that hands out 408bhp and the 3.0-litre V6 diesel that produces 235bhp. However, the X6 will include the incorporation of an optional M Package that will improve performance in terms of power output.

As of now, the expected competitors for the BMW X6 are the Audi India Q-Series, Mercedes-Benz ML-Class and possibly the new Range Rover. Additionally, the BMW X6 is brought in as a CBU which is going to have a big impact on the competition, considering the difference in pricing.

HONDA Amaze Launches Tomorrow in Thailand , India Next



Japanese auto major, Honda is finally launching the all new Amaze in Asia, starting with Thailand tomorrow, 23rd November, while India will receive it by early next year, to be precise in April. And like we mentioned earlier, the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine of Honda Amaze has been developed by former Honda F1 team and Honda believes the vehicle to deliver the mileage close to 24-25kmpl.

The Thailand version of the Amaze will be equipped with a gasoline engine, while in India, it will be available in two engine options, a petrol and the newly developed diesel engine. In Thailand, the all new Brio Amaze will be launched in four variants that include two manual- Amaze S MT, Amaze V MT and two automatic- Amaze S AT, Amaze V AT.

JLR to Launch 2013 Range Rover on 30th November



The 2013 Range Rover has caused quite a bit of activity here at CarDekho since its unveiling in London, where we were invited to test drive the car and brought to our readers everything there is to know about the car. And now, once again we bring to you information on the 2013 Range Rover India launch. Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the launch of the 2013 Range Rover will take place on the 30th of November,2012.

The new Range Rover will be brought to India via the CBU route, which may have been one of the key factors in this rather speedy launch. Of course that means, this will also have an impact on the Range Rover's price. As we reported to you earlier, the new Range Rover comes with a host of new changes in several key areas for improved performance, safety and comfort. Starting from ground up, we see that the platform has been changed to the lighter D4u platform, shaving off 400kgs. The wheel-base of the car has also been stretched out by 40mm, making it more spacious and improving driveability.

Apart from mechanical changes, the new Range Rover also goes under the scalpel, coming out with several cosmetic enhancements. The front fascia has been given something of a re-vamp with re-designed headlights and fog lights. The traditional rounded fog lamps have been replaced by more contemporary ones. The front bumper itself has also seen changes and no longer bulges out but instead blends smoothly with the grille.

The interior faces quite a lot more changes. We see that the old look has been abandoned in favour of a completely re-designed interior cabin. These changes include a new, re-designed steering wheel with biege and brown splashed in. This same beige-brown play is at work in the center console and the conventional gear stick too has been replaced by the more contemporary, risen gear knob and dials. The interiors look like they have been heavily inspired by the new Jaguars and the Range Rover Evoque.

The 2013 Range Rover line-up in India will consist of 2 models; the 5.0-litre supercharged petrol and the 4.4-litre TDV8 turbocharged diesel engine. The more powerful petrol mill cranks out an immense 507bhp. The 2013 Range Rover will be priced at Rs. 81.50 lakh for the petrol version and Rs. 94.00 lakh for the diesel. New Honda CR-V Launching in India in Early 2013; No Diesel Version



Honda that launched the new generation Honda CR-V in the UK last month is planning to launch the vehicle in India as well. We brought you the official images and details about the car back in September 2012, now our sources tell us that the fourth-generation CR-V will be here in India in the first quarter of 2013, most probably in January or February. It has got better in most departments than its predecessors be it the quality, practicality or refinement. Although nothing on the pricing has been announced, but they will be announced soon when the launch comes closer.

The all new CR-V, which is available in both petrol and diesel engine options in the UK, will only come to India in the petrol version only. If we talk about the dimensions, the new generation CR-V has got shorter and a lesser in length than the outgoing version. For the first time, the CR-V will be available with a choice of both two and four-wheel drive option Compared to the previous generation CR-V, the new model takes on a more assertive and aerodynamic stance with a bolder nose section. The front bumper is joined by a horizontal three-bar grille and deep-set headlights. The lower front bumper is designed to convey SUV capability with a generous approach angle.

The CR-V’s signature vertical rear brake lights, which debuted on the original model, remain but introduce a more three-dimensional style. The CR-V’s large wheels and bold wheel arches further emphasise its dynamic presence and capability. Explaining the exterior design, Manabu Konaka explains, “The CR-V has always been a car for every occasion. It can be both casual and formal, but the appearance must always convey solidity and reliability.” The length and height of the car have been reduced by 5mm and 30mm respectively compared with the current model, without reducing the interior space.

With the rear seats folded flat, the boot capacity of the CR-V has grown by 148 litres to 1648 litres and with the seats folded up, the boot capacity is a capacious 589 litres. The load length has been increased by 140mm to 1570mm, while the height of the load lip has been reduced by 25mm to make it easier to load heavy or awkward items.

The boot of the CR-V can now accommodate two mountain bikes or four sets of golf clubs. Interior of the vehicle too is equally impressive having good space, high quality finish, improved NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), Whiplash Mitigation Front Seat Design, one motion, easy fold-down seats and many other exciting features. “The first thing that we wanted to achieve with the interior design was a feeling of openness,” says the Interior Designer, Takehiro Ishibashi.

Speaking more on the fascia design Nakagawa added, “There are a number of horizontal layers which help emphasise the feeling of space,” says. “We call this ‘lean-layered’ design. By arranging the major functions in a series of layers, you create an ergonomically-efficient environment that is very intuitive.” “This is a feature of which I am particularly proud,” says Ishibashi. “It will make a big difference to how our customers use their CR-V.”, he further adds.http://www.cardekho.com

New 2013 SRT Viper Launched in America


Chrysler is not a well known name in India. Dodge has a slightly better standing in terms of popularity but not by much. But you say the words 'Dodge Viper' and anyone, from an amateur auto enthusiast to the hardcore auto nuts, will instantly recognise the name. So what's happening in the world of the Viper? Well, the Dodge Viper has so far been one of the most iconic American cars ever; and now, we have the all new SRT Viper. The Dodge badging has been replaced by the SRT badge for the 2013 model of the Viper.
Underneath the hood of the SRT Viper we find a massive V10 alumunium engine that generates 640bhp along with 812Nm of peak torque. Incidentally, this torque figure is the highest that a naturally aspirated engine can generate to date. Imagine the wheel spin on this car at the start line of a race! All this power is transmitted to the drivetrain via a 6-speed Tremec manual gearbox that has been improved with smaller gear ratios.
The new SRT Viper also comes with improvements in the suspension and chassis which have undergone a rigidity improvement for better handling and performance. Added to that are a bunch of new systems and features like auto-traction and stability control with advanced ABS. We also find dual-xenon headlights and a re-vamped front grille. The overall looks of the new Viper have also been shifted from the tradition American muscle look to a sleeker more aerodynamic look.
So we have the new SRT Viper with newer, sleeker looks and more power output. What about the price? Well, the 2013 Viper comes with two trim options; the base model being the SRT Viper and the top-end being the SRT Viper GTS. These are priced at $ 97,395 and $ 120, 395 respectively. Nissan Sunny Automatic to Launch in First Quarter of 2013- Sources



Japanese auto giant Nissan Motor's Indian Arm that launched its flagship sedan the Sunny in India back in 2011, is doing reasonably good in terms of sales for the company. Now the latest news coming in is about the automatic variant of the sedan in India, however much has been said and discussed about its launch, when we contacted to our sources, they disclosed that the launch is not very far, it will hit Indian shores as soon as the first quarter of 2013, possibly in January or February.

However nothing on the pricing has been commented yet, so even if the company fits the automatic transmission in the top-end variant, the Sunny XV petrol, it should be priced close to Rs 8-8.5 lakh, which will help it become quite competitive. We aren't expecting the diesel variant to be coming in the AT version. What further proves our claim is the fact that the similar vehicle has already been caught doing test mules in India at several places.

Nissan Sunny which is already available with a CVT gearbox across the globe, so it would not be a major task for the Japanese auto major to do the same in India. The closest competitors of Nissan Sunny including Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and some others already have an automatic variant. So once the Sunny comes in the AT, we are sure the competition will go even more fierce. Honda Amaze Diesel, First Official Pictures



Japanese auto major Honda has already created much sensation across the globe for its upcoming compact sedan, the Amaze which is going to be the first ever diesel vehicle from the company to hit Indian shores. The car is being launched in Thailand today, however in petrol variants only. CarDekho has been amongst few lucky ones to test drive the vehicle, so today we reveal you the first official images of the vehicle.
Since we have already driven the vehicle, we found the vehicle to be actually great for so many reasons, first the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel housed in the car is a gem, it just runs superb except the fact that there is a turbo lag at early RPMs, but on the whole we found it better than its closest competitors in India like Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Toyota Etios.
If we talk about the design of Honda Amaze, it is certainly much similar to that of the Brio hatchback on which the car has been built, especially the front is almost like the Brio except the new twin horizontal slat front grille, the bumper too has been revised a little, helping it become more sedan-like.
While the rear design of the Amaze looks inspired from the new Honda City, having the wraparound tail-lamps and some more cues, but we won't comment that it's better than the City, however beats most its competitors in the finishing.
Then comes the cabin, this too gives you the feeling of the Brio hatchback, especially the front seats, no changes have been made there, yes what impressed us is the fact that having the 50mm longer wheelbase, the rear seat has got even more spacious, and now you have the good enough luggage area of around 350-375 litres about 50-litres more than the Dzire.
